At KLIS, we have always believed that true education begins with protecting every child's sense of security. This protection is not only about a worryfree physical environment, but also about ensuring that every child is seen, respected, and safeguarded at the deepest level of their being.
Three Dimensions of Child Safety at KLIS
Child safety is never a onedimensional issue. It touches every breath a child takes on campus, every social interaction, and every emotional fluctuation. That is why KLIS breaks down "safety" into three key dimensions: psychological, physical, and social. Together, they form a comprehensive, allencompassing protection network.
100% TES-Certified Teachers: Professional Child Protection
Our greatest source of confidence comes from one number: 100 percent.
At KLIS, 100 percent of our teachers hold the professional certification "Child Protection for International Schools. " This is not just a piece of paper. It means that every teacher who stands before our students has undergone systematic training in child protection. They know how to recognize early signs of abuse and neglect. They understand how to respond when a child confides in them or asks for help. They are clear about how to maintain professional boundaries and manage risks. This certification, accredited by internationally recognized bodies such as TES, is the gold standard in child protection for international schools. At KLIS, safety is not a slogan; it is a professional instinct for every teacher.
Psychological Safety: Nurturing Mental Health & Emotional Well-being
At KLIS, we deeply understand that mental health is the foundation of a child's growth. This semester, our school counselors and teaching team have worked together to design a series of specialized courses focused on mental health, social emotional skills, and health literacy.
Through our antibullying initiatives, we help every student recognize the harm of bullying behavior and empower them with the courage and strategies to become "kindness defenders." In our middle school classes, we delve into "boundaries and respect," guiding students to clearly understand interpersonal boundaries and the importance of consent. Throughout all grade levels, we consistently promote a "growth mindset," encouraging students to see challenges as steps for growth and mistakes as valuable learning opportunities.
Every child is a unique universe. We care not only about their academic performance, but also about their emotional wellbeing, selfawareness, and love for life.
Physical Safety: A Healthy and Secure Campus Environment
A safe environment must first be a healthy and secure one. The KLIS campus is equipped with a dedicated school clinic, ready to assist students whenever needed. The clinic is staffed by professionally certified nurses, ensuring that students receive timely medical support at all times.
From nutritious meals to safe sports facilities, from personalized school bus services to qualified professional drivers, every detail of physical safety is taken seriously at KLIS.
Social Safety: Unity Day, Anti-Bullying & Kindness Culture
Social safety is the first lesson children learn in relating to the world. Every October, all KLIS teachers and students wear orange Tshirts to participate in Unity Day, taking a visible stand against bullying.
In the classroom, each child explores the meaning of "unity and respect" in their own way. They write encouraging words and kind messages on slips of paper, which are then linked together into a "Unity Chain" that symbolizes togetherness. At that moment, every child holds a piece of the chain, representing hope and inclusion, and they form a circle that signifies endless connection, equality, and support.
Our upper grades also carry out special antibullying activities, teaching students to identify and respond to bullying, and to understand how kindness is demonstrated through action.
Professional Certification Is Another Form of Love
Some may ask why KLIS insists that every teacher obtain child protection certification.
Our answer is simple: loving a child is an instinct, but protecting a child in a professional way is a skill. A 100 percent certification rate means that no matter which classroom a child enters or which teacher they face, they are always within a safety network built by trained professionals.
At KLIS, we devote ourselves to protecting every child's sense of security, psychologically, physically, and socially. Because we believe that only in a truly safe environment can children explore freely, grow courageously, and step confidently into the world.
This is KLIS's most solemn commitment to every family.
