PBL International Day Recap | KL International School of Chongqing Bashu
One week, eight countries, and our little speakers took us on a journey around the globe.
Last week, the campus of KLIS was filled with an international vibe. Our elementary students (Toddler through G5) presented a spectacular PBL International Day showcase, taking teachers, students, and parents on a unique “world tour.” The event has now concluded successfully, but the wonderful moments still linger. Let’s look back at this feast of knowledge and enthusiasm!
PBL (Project-Based Learning) is a core teaching method at KLIS. For the “International Week” theme, students worked in classes or small groups to research the geography, history, culture, cuisine, traditional costumes, natural landscapes, and more of a chosen country. From gathering information and creating posters to rehearsing presentations and preparing props, the entire process was student-led, with teachers acting as guides and facilitators.
The International Week PBL not only strengthened students' research skills, teamwork, and public speaking abilities but also helped them truly understand what it means to be a global citizen – respecting differences, appreciating diversity, and sharing joy. The four-day outdoor showcase was the culmination of their learning achievements.

A Snapshot of Learning Through the PBL International Week
During this four-day PBL International Day, students presented the unique cultures and local customs of eight countries—Chile, Fiji, Peru, Vanuatu, Norway, Morocco, Madagascar, and Romania—through model making, traditional costume displays, dance performances, food introductions, map explanations, and interactive Q&A sessions. From exploring lemur masks and Machu Picchu to showcasing alpaca models and local delicacies, every detail reflected the students’ efforts in independently researching information, collaborating as a team, and rehearsing their presentations repeatedly.
More importantly, this event truly brought “learning” beyond the textbook. Throughout the preparation process, the students spontaneously raised questions, sought answers, designed display boards, organized their language, and responded to audience inquiries—embodying the core competencies advocated by PBL: Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Critical Thinking. They also made use of information technology to create engaging presentation materials, making their displays more vivid and interactive. Through hands-on participation and public expression, the students not only deepened their understanding of cultures around the world but also gained confidence, a sense of responsibility, and team pride.
Although PBL International Week has ended, our students’ curiosity about the world never stops. Thank you to every young “country representative” for your hard work and passion. Thank you to the teachers for your expert guidance. And thank you to the entire KLIS community for celebrating learning with us.
KLIS remains committed to cultivating global citizens with an international perspective and a love for their roots. We look forward to our next PBL showcase with even more surprises!
