The International Artificial Intelligence Cybersecurity Olympiad (ICOA) is one of the most influential youth cybersecurity competitions globally. The 2026 edition was held at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, andgathered top young cybersecurity talents from 45 countries and regions. In the final round, 70 high school students from 19 countries competed intensely over two days, with each session lasting seven hours.

The competition covered comprehensive information security domains such asweb security, vulnerability analysis, and code auditing, rigorously testing both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills. Participants had to complete challenging tasks independently under strict rules:external AI tools and instant messaging apps were banned, and only a limited local AI model was accessible. Winning a bronze medal on such a stage speaks volumes about the true caliber of KLIS students.

The two students’ excellent performance comes mainly from their strong interest in cybersecurity, years of self-directed learning, and solid professional skills. During preparation, their teachers at school also offered valuable guidance and support. In the end, it was their own ability and perseverance that earned them this well-deserved bronze medal on the competition floor.
